On My Mind card tutorial

I had a bunch of scallops left over from the last layout I posted and wanted to use them to create some cards. Here's a tutorial of my favorite one and come back tomorrow for some other card ideas using more of these same scraps.

The background for this card was created entirely from white cardstock and ink.
I started out by stamping the inkpads onto a clear acrylic block so I could use them as a palette with my waterbrush.
I hand cut cloud shapes from some scrap printer paper in the recycling bin and used removable adhesive to secure them to my card front.
Then I mixed the two blue colors together on my waterbrush and painted in the background, being careful to not go under my clouds too much.
Then I used my foam ink blender and added a creamy color over top to brighten it up a bit. Didn't want it to look like storm clouds, but a cheery sky! :)
Next, I peeled off the clouds and this is what it looked like underneath. Be sure to rub off any extra adhesive.
I used another foam blender tool and edged the card base with some dark brown ink.
I also inked around a piece of yellow cardstock, also cut from scraps. Then I glued some ribbon strips to the backside and glued that layer to my card base. You can also see below that I have already glued down my scallop pieces before gluing down the yellow one.
The ribbon was tied in a bow on the front of the card. You can see how it's all coming together now.
The thought cloud was created by cutting out one of the labels from the same paper collection, then tinting the label with a watered down white paint. I placed the "On my mind" rub-on onto a scrap piece of white paper and cut around it quickly in a cloud shape. This sentiment piece was layered onto the thought cloud with foam tape. To finish off the card, I added some thought "bubbles" in the form of white pearls and some stickles around the thought cloud.
Here are some pictures of the finished card and a few close up shots:
